Services › Casino and Non-Casino Gaming › Class 4 Gambling: Self-Assessment Reviews

Updated 15 July 2024

Te Tari Taiwhenua Department of Internal Affairs encourages licenced operators and venue managers to take active steps to ensure they meet the requirements of the Gambling Act 2003, related regulations, licence conditions and game rules.

One way of doing this is a self-assessment review. A self-assessment review is an opportunity to evaluate how your venue complies with different parts of the Gambling Act and its regulations.

What is a self-assessment review

A self-assessment should involve a society or venue manager:
  • testing their own levels of compliance of their gaming machine operations with the requirements of the Gambling Act 2003, related regulations, licence conditions and game rules;
  • identifying areas where internal policies, systems and procedures should be developed, enhanced, or strengthened; and
  • putting measures in place immediately to address any areas where non-compliance was found.
