Funding expo for Taihape

An expo to connect community groups and the public with funding agencies in their local area rolls into Taihape this week.

The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) has organised the Taihape Community Funding Expo to inform people about the range of community funding opportunities in their area.

The Expo is being held at the Taihape Working Men’s Club and will be open to the public from 12pm-6pm on Thursday 19 April.

“The aim is to give community funders a human face and to provide an access point for groups in the Taihape/Rangitikei/Waimarino/Raetihi/Waiouru area who want community funding advice,” says DIA’s Regional Operations Manager, Janice Roxburgh.

“Those attending the expo can discuss their funding needs and become informed about the range of funding options in the region. A bonus is the opportunity for us to strengthen relationships between funders and communities.”

Organisations confirmed for the Expo include: The Taihape Youth Centre – The Hutt, DIA, Child Youth & Family, Inland Revenue, Charities Commission, Whanganui Community Foundation, Funding Information Service and the Ministry of Social Development.

The Taihape event is one of four funding expos being held by DIA around the lower North Island, with others being held in Levin, Palmerston North and Masterton.
