Daylight Saving ends Sunday 19 March

New Zealand Daylight Saving will end on Sunday 19 March 2006 when 3.00am becomes 2.00am.

People may find it convenient to put their clocks back by one hour before going to bed on Saturday 18 March.

As well as changing clocks, the end of Daylight Saving is an opportune time for people to check smoke alarms in their homes.

Daylight Saving begins every year on the first Sunday in October and runs through until the third Sunday in March the following year. The annual time adjustment is made every year under the Daylight Time Order 1990.

This year Daylight Saving Time will begin on Sunday 1 October.

Full background on daylight saving in New Zealand can be found on the Department of Internal Affairs website www.dia.govt.nz.
