Applicants urged to apply now

Applications from community organisations/hapu/iwi to the Community Development Scheme close at 4.00pm on Monday, 27 November 2006.

This year funding is available to establish five new projects in areas that have not previously had the opportunity to apply to the scheme. The five combined areas are:

• Horowhenua and Otaki
• Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga
• Taupo and Rotorua
• North Shore
• Porirua

Only one project will be funded in each area.

Administered by the Department of Internal Affairs, the scheme funds the employment, for a specified period, of community development workers who assist communities to help themselves. The focus is on community driven, community based projects that build capacity and capability.
