Funding expo for the Wairarapa

An expo to connect community groups and the public with funding agencies in their local area rolls into Masterton this week.

The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) has organised the Wairarapa Community Funding Expo to inform people about the range of community funding opportunities in their area.

The Expo is being held at the Masterton Town Hall and Cody Lounge and will be open to the public from 11apm-7pm on Thursday 3 May.

“The aim is to give community funders a human face and to provide an access point for groups in the Wairarapa who want community funding advice,” says DIA’s Regional Operations Manager, Janice Roxburgh.

“Those attending the expo can discuss their funding needs and become informed about the range of funding options in the region. A bonus is the opportunity for us to strengthen relationships between funders and communities.”

Organisations confirmed for the Expo include: Trusthouse, Eastern and Central Trust, UCOL, the Department of Internal Affairs, Inland Revenue, Funding Information Service and the Ministry of Social Development.

The Masterton event is one of four funding expos being held by DIA around the lower North Island, with others being held in Levin, Taihape and Palmerston North.
