Trust Framework Authority
The Trust Framework Authority is the regulator of accredited digital identity services.
Accreditation under the framework
The digital identity services trust framework aims to create a digital identity environment that is safe and trusted. It’s important that people can share their information safely and securely. Businesses need to know that the information they’re receiving can be trusted.
Digital identity service providers can become accredited under the framework. This means they have proven that they meet the standards for using, storing and sharing personal and organisational information.
Role of the Trust Framework Authority
The Trust Framework Authority is the regulator of digital identity services that are accredited. It comes into effect from 1 July 2024.
The Trust Framework Authority is a separate statutory function within the Department of Internal Affairs.
Responsibilities of the Trust Framework Authority
The Trust Framework Authority:
- accredits providers
- makes sure accredited providers consistently meet the laws, rules and regulations of the trust framework
- assesses and investigates complaints made about accredited providers or services
- manages the accreditation mark for the digital identity services trust framework.
